Yes! We buy aftermarket repair and service manuals, whether bought from our store or not. We also purchase Original Equipment Manufacturer (O.E.M.) manuals, also referred to as "factory" manuals. [ See Notes ].

Please email us before shipping factory manuals to get the okay from us.

The Motor Bookstore buys repair and service manuals for cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, ATVs, scooters, bicycles, personal watercraft, snowmobiles, marine engines, power equipment, generators, utility engines, and farm tractors.

Other related literature we may consider buying includes owner's manuals—the little booklets that usually come in the glove compartment of a car or truck, under the seat of a motorcycle, etc. Additionally, we may consider general automotive and transportation books such as histories, model-specific guides, etc. Please contact us prior to sending such materials. We cannot accept or be held responsible for items sent to us without our prior consent.

Repair manuals for vehicles other than the ones described above, must be pre-approved by The Motor Bookstore. Please e-mail us with any questions.

CONDITIONS

Manual Description

NEW: A manual that's never been read. Must be latest edition. Still in original plastic wrapper without scuffing and/or tearing.
MINT: A manual that's in near new condition, regardless of date of publication.
GOOD: A manual that's been read and shows signs of light use.
ACCEPTABLE: A manual that shows signs of use; may show light fingerprints, yellowing due to age, or writing/notes inside.
POOR: A book that may be missing the cover/s and/or some pages. Also may show additional damage and stains throughout.

We only accept manuals that range from Acceptable to New. Manuals submitted must be complete with all pages and include any supplements (if included originally). We do not accept manuals in Poor condition, and such items will be rejected and disposed of.

The Motor Bookstore shall be the final authority in determining the condition of the repair manuals submitted.

Used Manual Value Guide (Percentages are based on date of publication, condition, and marketabilty)...

NEW: up to 35% of MSRP (e.g. MSRP $29.95, get up to $10.48)
MINT: up to 25% of MSRP (e.g. MSRP $29.95, get up to $7.48)
GOOD: up to 20% of MSRP (e.g. MSRP $29.95, get up to $5.99)
ACCEPTABLE: up to 15% of MSRP (e.g. MSRP $29.95, get up to $4.49)

Notes: in lieu of MSRP or an official list price, The Motor Bookstore will pay up to 35% of the price we expect to realize based on the overall condition of the book, publication date, and marketability.

Note: it is a good idea to use Media Mail by the USPS to ship books. Most other shipping methods tend to be too expensive.

Pack manual(s) properly to insure it arrives in good condition. Use plenty of packing to insure it doesn't move around the box while in transit, as this can cause additional damage such as dents, scratches, scuffing, damaged corners, etc. This will affect the overall condition of the manual upon inspection.

Please include your complete name, mailing address, email address, and phone number as required by the Sales Agreement. Your personal information is protected by our Privacy Policy (see link below), and will only be used to contact you regarding this transaction.

Upon receipt and acceptance of the manual(s), we will issue and mail you a check for the appropriate amount. Or, if you prefer, we'll issue a store credit in your name which will be delivered via electronic mail.

Seller must complete, sign and include a copy of the Sales Agreement along with the manual(s).

Notice: although we will consider buying most any automotive-related literature, the following are items we WILL NOT purchase:

Photocopied manuals, regardless of quality
CDs or software
Magazines

Additionally, we do not provide repair manual or book appraisals.
