HANDLING Poor handling will reduce overall performance and may cause you to crash. If you are experiencing poor handling, check the following items: If the handlebars are hard to turn, check for the following:
  1. Low tire pressure.
  2. Incorrect clutch cable routing.
  3. Incorrect throttle cable routing.
  4. Incorrect handlebar switch cable routing.
  5. Steering stem adjustment is too tight.
  6. Bent steering stem.
  7. Improperly lubricated steering stem bearings.
  8. Damaged steering stem bearings.
  9. Bearing race in steering stem severely worn or dented.
If there is excessive handlebar shake or vibration, check for the following:
  1. Loose or damaged handlebar holder bolts.
  2. Incorrect handlebar holder and bolt installation.
  3. Bent or cracked handlebar.
  4. Loose steering stem nut.
  5. Worn wheel bearing(s).
  6. Dry rotted tire.

PISTON RING: INSPECTION AND REMOVAL A 3-ring type piston and ring assembly is used (Figure 206). The top and second rings are compression rings. The lower ring is an oil control ring assembly (consisting of 2 ring rails and an expander spacer). When measuring the piston rings and piston in this section, compare the actual measurements to the new and service limit specifications in Table 2. Replace parts that are out of specification or show damage as described in this section.
