FRAME NOISE

Various frame-related noises are listed below:

1. Front fork noise. Check for the following:



1. Contaminated fork oil.



2. Low fork oil level.



3. Broken fork spring.



4. Worn or damaged front fork bushings.



2. Rear shock absorber noise. Check for the following:



1. Loose shock absorber mounting bolts.



2. Cracked or broken shock spring.



3. Damaged shock absorber.



3. Other frame associated noises. Check for the following:



1. Broken frame.



2. Broken swing arm.



3. Loose engine mounting bolts.



4. Dry or damaged steering bearings.



5. Loose mounting bracket(s).

The clutch assembly (Figure 31) consists of an outer housing and a clutch hub. The gear-driven outer housing is mounted on the transmission main shaft and can rotate freely.

The housing receives power from the primary drive gear mounted on the crankshaft.

When the clutch is engaged, the housing and friction plates transfer power to the clutch plates, locked to the clutch hub.

The clutch hub is splined to the main shaft and powers the transmission. The plate assembly is engaged by spring pressure and disengaged by a cable-actuated clutch lifter lever assembly.

Do not add additives to the transmission oil. Additives will cause poor clutch engagement/ disengagement, as well as causing the motorcycle to creep when the clutch is disengaged.

When troubleshooting the clutch, always check the quality and quantity of oil in the transmission before disassembling the clutch.
