This is the ultimate guide for maintenance and repair for your '81 'Vette. Please scroll down and open the Table of Contents tab in order to see just how thoroughly these fiberglass dream machines have been covered. You'll find information on mechanical systems, body and electrical from front to back. It's not just loaded with great text, either. You'll quickly discover that the step-by-step instructions have been thoughtfully paired with a huge number and variety of excellent visual aids to assist you throughout the tasks.

Even the "general" descriptions in this book offer exceptional clarity. For instance, with respect to the pistons and connecting rods, did you know that the pistons are made of cast aluminum alloy using two compression rings and one oil control ring? Maybe, you did, but for sure you'd have that information if you owned this great repair guide. It also explains that the piston pins are offset 1/16" (1.6mm) toward the thrust side (right hand side) to provide a gradual change in thrust pressure against the cylinder wall as the piston travels its path. Pins are Chromium steel and have a floating fit in the pistons. They are retained in the connecting rods by a press fit. This book continues the subject, but the point is not to quote the whole book (obviously), but to give you a solid example of what to expect. While we're on that subject, please take a moment and scroll below to check out a sample page. You'll get a glimpse of the helpful role the black and white photographs play in enhancing the text.

Although much of the '81 'Vette was a carry-over from the previous year, the big news was the change in assembly plants. After 28 years in St. Louis, Corvette production moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky. The new plant was designed to build Corvette models exclusively, and an increased focus was placed on quality. They even offered technological innovations in the paint process. Due to that fact, four, new, optional two-tone treatments celebrated the opening of the new plant.

This popular body style was nearing the end of its run, but its beautiful lines, interior and mechanicals were constantly being enhanced, like an artist adding one finishing touch after another. Items like the Computer Command Control (CCC) helped to modernize this American sports car. This manual has the info you need with regards to CCC and the rest. Order yours today!

This factory-written shop manual is perfect for service, repairs, restoration and rebuild projects. Clear illustrations and photos show exploded views, as well as component details, plus specifications on engine data, engine torque, carburetion and more.
