The Perfect Distance: Training for Long-Course Triathlon
 1.2-mile swim + 56-mile bike + 13.1-mile run = The Perfect Distance
What makes long-course triathlon the perfect distance? It's challenging but achievable. It fits into a real-life training schedule. It's great preparation for a full Ironman®. And it's fun.
No wonder long-course triathlon, or the half-Iron, is the sport's fastest-growing race category. The Perfect Distance is the first book dedicated exclusiely to this distance, with tips, training plans, nutritional analysis, and workouts focused on optimum performance in the half-Iron.
Author Tom Rodgers knows that the balance between training and the demands of work and family can be hard to manage. His dynamic approach to training acknowledges real life with a flexible periodized plan that creates measurable gains, often in fewer hours. By using the plans and formulas in The Perfect Distance, you will place less strain on your body and have more time for yourself.
The Perfect Distance is also a great book for anyone who wants to race farther and faster. Experienced triathletes know the importance of continually refining their skills and technique in all three sports if they want to remain injury-free and improve their race time. Rodgers takes a comprehensive approach to each sport, identifying the tips and drills that lead to better performance, and providing dozens of workouts to use in your training progression.
Whether you're a beginning triathlete ready to move up in distance or a veteran seeking a podium finish, The Perfect Distance is the right book to equip you for the long course.
