Loaded with 550 pages of detailed information, this comprehensive manual contains easy-to-follow, step-by-step text instructions. Those directions have been thoughtfully paired with a huge number of visual tools to assist you all along the way. You'll find excellent illustrations, sharp black-and-white photographs, helpful charts, cut-away views, exploded views, circuit diagrams and more. They deliver tremendous clarity to all of the tasks.  Please take a moment to view a sample page where you can see for yourself just how well these outstanding visual tools complement the professional text.

Did you know that extreme care should be taken when you are handling or storing cylinder heads?  Well, you certainly would if you owned this manual and checked out the "cylinder head or gasket - remove and replace" instructions in the Engine Mechanical section 6-17.  It's because the rocker arm studs are hardened and they may crack if they're struck.  They also tip you off that when the left head is removed, it's necessary to raise the head off of the dowel pins and move it forward and "jockey" it (in order to clear the equipment for the power steering and power brake).  You'd learn that and much, much more.  The best news is this meticulous level of detail is provided throughout this guide.  The notes and cautions from the professionals are worth the cost of this manual alone.  The cost of learning "the hard way" can be horrifyingly expensive.

NOTE:  This is the SHOP manual.  It covers the CHASSIS areas of your classic Pontiac.  We strongly recommend owning ALL of the factory-authored manuals that apply to your vehicle.  For information regarding the BODY, please see the 1961 Pontiac Body Shop Manual.  If you have a 3-speed or 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, you'll definitely want to add the 1961 Pontiac Hydra-Matic Shop Manual.  To address your HVAC projects, you'll need to consult the 1961 Pontiac Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Manual.  For PARTS information, please see the 1961 - 1962 Pontiac Master Parts / Accessories Catalog Supplement.

This factory-written shop manual is perfect for service, repairs, restoration, and rebuild projects.  Clear illustrations and photos show exploded views, as well as component details, plus specifications, engine repair details, fuel systems and more.
