Seloc is one of the leading publishers of marine engine repair information in the world.

Seloc Publishing was founded in 1974 by Clarence Coles as an alternative to complicated and loosely written factory manuals and lower quality aftermarket manuals. Seloc became the first multi-engine repair manual to cover everything from basic maintenance to complete engine overhaul. It was this product focus and attention to detail that led an investor group of executives from Chilton Automotive to acquire Seloc in 1998. Since that time, Seloc has continued to invest in new and existing product development.

Seloc Publishing recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with the most comprehensive line-up of repair tools ever presented to the marine industry, including consumer aids such as skill level ratings based upon the procedure's degree of difficulty, and two types of Special Tool icons.

Seloc publishes two types of repair information: repair manuals and an internet-based electronic service, SelocOnline. Since over 60% of the maintenance and repair operations can be performed by the average do-it-yourselfer, and with marine engines costing as much as a small car, the ability to do so many of those repairs yourself translates into thousands of dollars in savings over the life of your engine.

Seloc Repair Manuals are authored by marine editors at Seloc's headquarters in West Chester, Pa. Starting with a clean sheet of paper and the official factory service, repair, and training information, the editors set out to create condensed authoritative repair information aimed at the do-it-yourself owner. In addition to step-by-step removal and installation procedures, Seloc performs and photographically records actual engine teardowns which provide the user with a strong visual sense of the actual repair. Service information frequently includes additional troubleshooting tips, as well as routine maintenance hints.

SelocOnLine.com was launched in May of 2001. The website provides quick access to repair and maintenance sections, maintenance schedules, specification charts, wiring diagrams, a parts database using the leading aftermarket manufacturer, Sierra, a dealer locator, and a searchable index. SelocOnLine is a consumer subscription product allowing the subscriber unlimited Internet access for 3 years to one manufacturer/model/year engine.
