Book Excerpt: 2004-2014 Nissan Titan, Armada Repair Manual by Chilton OIL PRESSURE CHECK
  1. Low engine oil pressure can be a sign of an engine in need of rebuilding. A low oil pressure light (often called an "idiot light") is not a test of the oiling system. Such indicators only come on when the oil pressure is dangerously low. Even a factory oil pressure gauge in the instrument panel is only a relative indication, although much better for driver information than a warning light. A better test is with a mechanical (not an electrical) oil pressure gauge.
  2. Locate the oil pressure indicator sending unit- it's located in the aluminum upper oil pan, close to the block at the left-front of the engine (see illustration).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew and remove the oil pressure sending unit and screw in the hose for your oil pressure gauge. If necessary, install an adapter fitting. Use Teflon tape or thread sealant on the threads of the adapter and/or the fitting on the end of your gauge's hose.
  4. Connect an accurate tachometer to the engine, according to the tachometer manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Check the oil pressure with the engine running (normal operating temperature) at the specified engine speed, and compare it to this Chapter's Specifications. If it's extremely low, the bearings and/or oil pump are probably worn out.
  6. Installation is reverse of removal. Clean threads on the sensor and use new sealant on the threads before installation.

TRANSFER CONTROL UNIT | REPLACEMENT
  1. With the transfer case in 2WD, turn off the engine and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove the glove compartment (see Chapter 11).
  3. Disconnect the two electrical connectors at the Transfer Control Unit.
  4. Remove the bolts and take the Transfer Control Unit out.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, with the following exception. Check for correct positions of the transfer case system by moving the 4WD selector switch through it's range. If the position on the switch does not correspond to the position of the shift actuator on the transfer case, perform the following steps.
  6. With the vehicle warmed to operating temperature, move the 4WD selector switch from 2WD to 4High to 4Low to 4High and back to 2WD. Keep the selector in each of these positions for at least two seconds.
  7. Observe the 4WD shift indicator light on the instrument panel and the 4Low indicator light. The 4Low light should come on only when in 4Low, and it will flash for a few seconds while waiting for the shift actuator to complete a move to 4Low. Move the vehicle enough to ascertain that the transfer case is in 4Low when the selector switch is in that position and the dash light is on. If the 4WD indicator light or the 4Low light are blinking for more than a few seconds, return to 2WD and have the relationship between the 4WD switch and the shift actuator corrected at the dealership with a scan tool.
