ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The starter circuit includes the starter button, starter relay, battery and starter motor. The starter circuit is shown in Figure 42 (ZX900) and Figure 43 (ZX1000).
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Remove the lower fairing as described in Chapter Thirteen.
Drain the engine oil as described under Engine Oil and Filter Change in Chapter Three.
Drain the cooling system as described under Coolant Change in Chapter Three.
Remove the water pump as described under Water Pump Removal/ Installation in Chapter Nine.
Remove the engine sprocket as described under Engine Sprocket Removal/ Installation in Chapter Six.
Remove the external shift mechanism cover screws and remove the cover (Figure 44). Remove the 2 dowel pins and gasket (Figure 45).
FAIRING
This chapter contains removal and installation procedures for the fairing assembly.
When removing a fairing component, it is best to reinstall all mounting hardware onto the removed part or store them in plastic bags taped to the inside of the fairing.
After removal, fairing components should be placed away from area to prevent accidental damage.
CAUTION: Painted fairing parts are usually secured with rubber washers and special metal washers, bolts or screws. To avoid permanent damage, always use the correct parts. Use of normal washers or fasteners will result in fairing damage.
