This chapter contains removal, overhaul, installation and adjustment procedures for fuel pumps, carburetors, reed valves, fuel tanks and connecting lines used with all engines covered in this manual. Tables 1-3 list general torque specifications, reed valve specifications and fuel pump pressure specifications. Table 4-7 list carburetor specifications. All tables are at the end of the chapter. FUEL PUMP All outboard motors equipped with an integral fuel tank use a gravity flow fuel delivery system and require no fuel pump or primer bulb. The diaphragm-type fuel pump used on models with a remote fuel tank is operated by crankcase pressure/vacuum pulsations. Since this type of fuel pump cannot create sufficient suction to draw fuel from the tank during cranking, fuel is transferred to the carburetor(s) for starting by operating the primer bulb installed in the fuel hose.
