Rods and Customs
Speed and style have always been important in car culture, and some of the best examples of these two automotive virtues can be seen in hot rods and custom cars. Whether it's a beefed-up V-8 or a chopped top, these quintessentially American cars are in a class of their own.
Author and photographer Bo Bertilsson profiles dozens of notable rods and customs in Rods and Customs, takes readers through the restoration process of his own T-bucket, and features several "retro-rods," including one owned by Jeff Beck. In addition, coverage of events like Viva Las Vegas and Paso Robles illustrate that although the hot rods and custom cars have been around for decades, they're still as popular as ever.

About the Author
Bo Bertilsson was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, and his interest for hot rods and customs started early. In 1969 he took his first trip to California to see the Grand National Roadster Show in Oakland. On this same visit, Bertilsson visited with Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Roth wanted Bertilsson to photograph choppers for his Choppers magazine, and it was the beginning of Bertilsson's career as an automotive magazine photojournalist. He is now based in California and works for European publishing houses.
