Note 1: the 6-cylinder engine fitted to Series III Jaguar and Daimler cars is developed directly from the 3.4 litre unit introduced with the Jaguar XK 120 car in 1948; although superficially very similar, these two engines now have few parts in common and none of the accessories fitted to the current engines are interchangeable with those of the early units.
Note 2: the V-12 engine fitted to Series III Jaguar XJ12 and Daimler Double-Six cars is the product of many years of improvement and development of the engine originally fitted to the Jaguar E-type cars. The four carbs of the early engines have been replaced by the Lucas-Bosch Jetronic D fuel injection system which was later superceded by the Lucas Digital system.
