Book Excerpt: 1991-1998 Honda CBR600F2, CBR600 F3 Fours Repair Manual COOLING SYSTEM
COOLANT RESERVOIR | REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION REMOVAL
  1. Drain the cooling system as described in Chapter 1.
  2. Remove the right side cover (see Chapter 8, if necessary).
  3. Remove the rear shock absorber as described in Chapter 6.
  4. Disconnect the two hoses from the top and bottom of the reservoir and allow any residual coolant to drain from the reservoir.
  5. Unscrew the rear brake master cylinder reservoir mounting bolt and reposition the brake reservoir clear of the coolant reservoir. Keep the brake reservoir upright to prevent fluid loss.
  6. Undo the coolant reservoir mounting bolt and remove the reservoir from the machine. To release the reservoir upper locating hook from the frame, move the reservoir towards the rear of the bike (see illustrations).
INSTALLATION
  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal sequence noting the following:
    1. Apply a few drops of locking compound to the threads of the master cylinder reservoir bolt, then fit the bolt and tighten it to the specified torque setting (Chapter 7).
    2. On completion refill the cooling system as described in Chapter 1.

FRAME, SUSPENSION AND FINAL DRIVE
FORKS | REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION REMOVAL
  1. Remove the front wheel as described in Chapter 7.
  2. Remove the front fender as described in Chapter 8.
  3. Carefully pry off the snap-ring from the top of each fork tube (see illustration).
  4. Slacken the right handlebar clamp bolt. Slide the handlebar off the fork tube and support it to prevent straining the hydraulic hose or leakage of brake fluid from the master cylinder.
  5. Slacken the left handlebar clamp bolt. Slide the handlebar off the fork tube and position it clear of the triple clamp (see illustration).
  6. Undo the two bolts and free the right brake caliper from the fork slider.
  7. Tie the caliper to the bike to prevent any strain being placed on the hydraulic hose or pipe.
NOTE: If the fork legs are to be dismantled it is preferable to slacken the top bolts while they are still held in the triple clamps.
