From the Publisher:

Call them "crash bumpers." Call them "rubber baby buggy bumpers." Call them ugly. Whatever you call them, the bumper design that Porsche began using for the 911 in 1974 is one of the most important changes in that car's history. That year, with the new-look lower rocker panel covers, the extensive use of rubber trim, and the front turn signals incorporated in the bumper, is the dividing point between what is generally considered early and late models.

To the casual, uneducated eye of the man on the street, all Porsches between 1974 and 1989 look the same. That is not to put down the man on the street. The fact is that much of the sheet metail remained unchanged through those years. But there have been many very subtle refinements. This book examines the standard production versions of the 911/930 from 1974 to 1989 to distinguish those changes, no matter how small. It will also include the 912E which was produced for the 1976 model year.

Subject matter is limited to body, basic chassis, exterior trim, luggage compartment, and interior. The information is presented in a logical, front-to-back, system-by-system manner using photos to show the part as it was used.

Where this book can really come in handy is when buying or restoring 911s in these years. For instance, many of the 1974 through 1977 911 Porsches have been updated to SC or Carrera body styles. Buyers should know what is supposed to be on the year in question to make an educated buy.
